Map 13 - Pin Hill
Rating Comments: The steep ledges that comprise the site of the former slate quarry, and the beautiful mill pond and are what make this site special. This small site packs in a lot of interesting terrain in a small package. Nice spots along the mill pond to enjoy the wading birds. Just sit and watch and notice the activity. Steep trails lead up to the quarry where there are wonderful season views of town from the top of Pin Hill. You get a very interesting perspective of the roads and homes below, often giving a surprising perspective of the orientation and lay of the land below. While the trails here are short, they will get you a bit winded as you scramble to the top to see the views and beautiful slate outcroppings. Worth a special trip. The easy parking, the sound of the Bowers Brook running down the below the old wooden mill race, and the quarries and ledges make this site a favorite. Difficult.
