Map 21 - Barba's Point
Rating Comments: A very pretty spot whose trail quickly takes you to the pond's edge with great views of the water and opportunities to sit on rocks at the waterfront. It is most easily accessed 2 driveways west of St Theresa's Church on the same side of the street. There are usually rowing sculls stacked near the driveway. You can park at the far end of the driveway, being careful to not block access to the Bare Hill Rowing Association's access to their trailers or the storage garage. The Willow Road neighborhood has access through a short steep spur from the road. An access trail also exists behind Bromfield School behind the basketball court (which is beside the tennis courts), and there is usually ample parking there when school is not in session. The forest is mostly pine and oak, but there is a stand of shagbark hickory that is distinctive. Note also the certified vernal pool that lies in a hollow to the west of the trail closer to Bare Hill Pond. This trail gets a ratings boost due to its proximity to the center of town, access, and connection to the school and Willow Road. The parking options are another boost.
